CNR Winter Sports Coordinator – Job Description

Job Title: CNR Winter Sports Coordinator

Reports To: WOW Board of Directors

Location: Taos Pueblo, NM

Employment Type: Contract (e.g., October through March, with possibility of extension), averaging ~20 hours per week

Position Overview:

Working on Wellness (WOW) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and community-minded individual to serve as our Sports Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth empowerment, physical activity, and outdoor recreation. The sports coordinator will lead efforts to organize, promote, and supervise engaging youth sports and wellness programming—including the Charles N. Romero (CNR) ski/snowboard trips, athletic clinics, and other culturally grounded experiences. This position plays a key role in supporting Indigenous youth in Taos County and surrounding communities by creating safe, fun, and empowering recreational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Coordinate and oversee transportation and logistics for CNR ski/snowboard program participants. (Possible 10 full ski days/ 2 sessions of youth participants; 5 days each)

  • Attend required training sessions and program planning meetings.

  •  Supervise and chaperone youth at program events and outings.

  • Maintain open and respectful communication with parents, guardians, and families.

  • Promote safety, teamwork, and positive youth development at all times.

  • Serve as a liaison between community partners, families, and program staff.

  •  Ensure programming aligns with WOW’s mission to promote physical, mental, and social wellness for Indigenous youth.

 Collect necessary documentation (waivers, forms) and maintain accurate records.

  •  Submit timely monthly reports, evaluations, and other information required. 

  •  Outreach to recruit youth participants and promote programs within the community, including organizing/staffing “booths” at scheduled community events.

  • Coordinating Registration, Orientation, and Apparel fitting to align with TSV scheduled ski days.

Qualifications:

  •  Experience working with youth in sports, education, or recreational programs.

  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  •  Familiarity with ski/snowboard programs or willingness to learn.

  •  Ability to supervise youth groups and work flexible hours, including weekends.

  •  Valid driver’s license; ability to transport youth as needed.

  •  CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

  •  Cultural sensitivity and experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.

  •  Be able to provide a Background check.

Term and Compensation:
